What did I forget to do?
On my last day, I enjoyed the early morning ferry ride,
completed my tasks at the Business & Design Lab at the University of Gothenburg,
on the way back to Ockero shopped for groceries for dinner,
-- just one of several cheese aisles --
took a final walk to the little harbor and beach
prepared dinner
and celebrated a "good collaboration and friendship"

Transitions
As I began my journey to the east and south --car from Ulla's sister's house to station, 10 minutes; train Vaxjo to Goteborge, 2 hours, 56 minutes; run to catch bus, 4 minutes; meeting Ulla's fiance, who had come by train from Stockholm, half a minute; bus to the ferry, 45 minutes; walk on ferry, 2 minutes; ferry to Hono, 12 minutes; walk to Ul
la's car in parking lot, 3 minutes; drive to her house, 6 minutes -- my thoughts turned to Swedish reflection and anticipation of my return to the US
My senses were stimulated by the sight of the tulips in the garden that had gained their color while we were away.
Ulla and I spent a good couple of hours today documenting what we still need to do for our projects -- first completing the revision of our "paridigmatic partnership" paper for a journal, then finishing (two-thirds done) the ppt slides for a course module or single lecture on design management, then the seeds for our next conference paper on Normann's idea of value constellation (maybe Aom 2009 if we can be ready, if not EURAM or EGOS), and finally, noting that we intend to present Ulla's empirical evaluation study in English somewhere. We've set out timelines and responsibilities -- and at least half will be completed to time.
I'm pleased with what I have accomplished this month, and I'm particularly happy about all the contacts I've made. at the same time I'm not overwhelmed by our to-do list. It's a pipline, and that's what I needed to put in place during my sabbatical.
But my sabbatical's not over yet! I'm anxious to get back to see what Jack's really been up to -- click here to view his latest painting project -- the "carpet" hangs vertically as decoraticial on a 30 foot high wall and a "dinghy painter" is a special rope. I must spend a week back on campus in the Chief Nag role, but then I'll be at my desk in Stonington working at my own pace on my design management projects while picking up the pace on the others I have in the works with Diana. There are three more months to come! Did I hear groans about three more months of blogging?

Saturday with Ulla's family in Vaxjo

In the morning we went for a walk in the woods
Eric, Petter's younger brother, who is a pharmcy student at the University of Gothenburg, arrived in time for lunch.
In the late afternoon we went to a special concert -- the first in the Tengstrand 08 series. The featured artists were Ola Salo and Per Tengstrand. Per Tengstrant is a concert pianist, based in New York, who grew up in Vaxjo, and returns each year to host a concert series. In today's concert he was joined by a Norweg1an chamber orchestra and Ola Salo (note palindrome o
f name), a rock star, who sang ballads of his own composition. The concert title was "Absolutely no decorun: from Vivaldi to The Ark" and the pieces appealed to both the young and the old in the audience.Another excellent meal and good conversation rounded out the day. Notice I haven't mentioned the "w" word!

Friday in Växjö
This was a work day. We went to Växjö University -- the builidng is tilted, not the photo --where Ulla still holds a 20% appointment. I used her office while she taught her class.
Just behind the door there are coat hooks and a little safe -- good ideas for the new WCOB building!
We ate lunch in the spacious "coffee room" (complete with dishwasher!)
In the corridor we ran into Bengt-Åke, whom I'd met on an earlier visit. He greeted me with, "Hej Jill! I just saw your article in the Journal of Management Inquiry. It looks very intersting -- I've already put it aside to read." (No photo of beaming Jill)
I worked with Patrick, one of Ulla's doctoral students, on ideas for turning the paper he presented at the DMI conference into an article, before heading to the supermarket (I was in charge of purchasing food for the evening meal) while Ulla continued working.
In the evening, Ulla donned the apron, under the watchful eye of Stella, before a pleasant dinner with Ulla, Karin (Ulla's sister, a physician), and Gunnar (a chemistry professor at Växjö University).
18 Hours in Copenhagen
Wednesday late afternoon we traveled by fast train to Copenhagen. Ulla had business in Malmo (southern Sweden), so she got off the train there, while I continued across the bridge to Denmark.
It was dark when I arrived and a good time to stroll around the Tivoli gradens.
In the morning I went on a canal boat tour ....
Through various neighbohoods to the open water. 
We passed the opera house,
the "national flag." On any given day, however this flag is flown is the way that all flags in Danmark should be flown.
And saw (the back of) the little mermaid. She's tiny! I've only seen pictures from the front against the water as a background, so I had no sense of scale. I'd always imagined her like Lady Liberty. I was quite shocked by reality!
I met Ulla and together we went to the Copenhagen Design Skol for a meeting with professors from all over Scadinavia to plan a doctoral consortium on reserach methodology, to be held in late August. (Our reason for coming to Danmark.) Ulla is trying to persuade me to participate.
I left soon after lunch so I could visit Rosenborg Slot -- checking out the thrones
And ideas for a new desk for my office.
Before watching the changing of the guard (not quite the same as at Buckingham Palace!)
and taking a stroll through the park.
More walking and sightseeing, then I was back ton the train, meeting Ulla in Malmo and traveling on to Vaxjo.
I enjoyed my brief visit to Copenahgen and hope to return again soon.
